Another great (and fun) lesson. As usual, Mona was right on time. I gave a brief bio of my life, focused on Arabic learning and work history, and Mona asked me questions like what was the biggest problem I encountered at work, what did I learn over the years of work, etc. Along the way we talked and joked about my invisible dog fence and my wife, the nurse, recommending garlic cloves to cure a cold. In the future we are going to use activities from Boris Shekhtman's الله يرحمه book, a pdf of which I emailed to Mona.

شكرا يا منا! Wow! It's so true, as a student talks about something very close to them or personal to their life, they will be more determined to find words to explain their situation. I had so much to say in such a short time, my brain was so eager and desperately scrambling to pull whatever word it could in order to convey the message. Thank you for filling in the gaps!!! This session went by too fast!! See you soon!!

Great session! The way the essay was corrected was excellent with the coloring and everything! 🙂

Excellent lesson! Mona really helped me with the most challenging pronunciations and spellings of words with vowels. She is very encouraging and knowledgeable about the culture and variations in language (modern standard, dialects, etc.), and she makes me look forward to learning more!

شكرا يا مونا على كل شىء You clarified many things for me today. My confidence with vocabulary has improved greatly. I often respond with a question tone in my voice, but now that some vocabulary words have been clarified, I will have a confirming tone and not a tone of being unsure. THANK YOU AGAIN MONA!!

I really enjoyed our introductory lesson today. Mona has excellent English and is well informed about current events, even those in the U.S. We talked about how I learned Arabic and possible topics for an oral interview that I have coming up. One of the possible topics is the current primaries in the U.S., so we spent most of our half hour talking about, and joking about, that. We didn't experience any technical problems at all.

So far we've been working mostly on listening comprehension, but this session was more focused on speaking than listening: I tried to explain things like what sort of films I like, and Mona helped me find the right words. This was good practice because I often hesitate while searching for words.

An excellent lesson. I think the whiteboard was incredibly useful and the internet connection was perfect. Important when learning letters that are so similar to the nordic ear...

Thank you SOOO MUCH Mona!!! I was definitely hitting a snag with understanding how to do a lesson and you had the patience of an angel and made sure I could do the exercise. I can laugh now, but it definitely humbles me. You are an excellent model teacher. I will definitely become a better teacher this semester. WOW!!! Excellent lesson regarding the definite article and the differences in use. JUST EXCELLENT!!!

Mona is a natural born teacher. I am amazed at her maturity for such a young person!! Can't wait to begin our next lesson!

Thank you Mona!! This was great! My brain needed to be stretched and challenged. It's funny to see things in a different light. I tend to make things so difficult when they are soooo obvious!! But, that's part of learning. And I really appreciate your support and encouragement and admire your patience!! Great Job, Mona!!

Another good lesson, and as always, Mona was right on time to start. Mainly we discussed the Syrian refugee problem, focusing on a news clip I watched yesterday about Syrians in the Calais camp in France, and the different approaches France and England are taking regarding admitting refugees and the problems those are engendering. We also branched off into the current problems the EU is facing, like Greek debt. AND importantly, we covered active and passive forms of تطور And also, like always, Mona sent me a document containing words and expressions we used during our class.

Good lesson. Thanks Mona. We talked in both Fusha and Ammiyah about (1) daily activities (getting up, shaving, eating breakfast, etc) and (2) hobbies (music, playing and teaching piano, watching baseball, running 5k's). Next time i believe we are going to talk about my bio.

Another good lesson! We reviewed expressions related to my work history and discussed experiences in school and the role of luck in decision making. Also went over a number of colloquial expressions.
