Fantastic lesson, entirely in Arabic. We worked on listening comprehension with a video. I had watched part of it in advance and prepared questions on the difficult bits, and Mona had prepared answers. She's great at explaining the meanings of Arabic words in Arabic, with examples. She had even found another video with an example of a word I'd asked about, so I could hear it in a different context.

شكرا يا مونا على كل شىء You clarified many things for me today. My confidence with vocabulary has improved greatly. I often respond with a question tone in my voice, but now that some vocabulary words have been clarified, I will have a confirming tone and not a tone of being unsure. THANK YOU AGAIN MONA!!

Thank you Mona!! You always figure out what's bugging me and you are able to help me dissect that 'bug' so it's no longer a bug but a friendly tool I can use. Thank you!!!

Thank you so much Mona!!!! I truly appreciate your patience!! It will be a huge accomplishment, if I ever learn how to pronounce 'parrot' in Arabic! 🙂 Also, I see how important it is to practice reading with a professional teacher; it's essential to clearing up pronunciation rules. I loved how you start with ensuring I knew the basics/or the foundations and then working our way up to make sure that all of the basics are completely understood and not assumed. Fabulous!!!

This was our first session, and focused on enabling Mona to get a sense of my strengths and weaknesses in Arabic, as well as defining the goals of the lessons. She was extremely helpful and professional, clearly knows a great deal about modern teaching methods, and has good suggestions about how to proceed.

Another great (and fun) lesson. As usual, Mona was right on time. I gave a brief bio of my life, focused on Arabic learning and work history, and Mona asked me questions like what was the biggest problem I encountered at work, what did I learn over the years of work, etc. Along the way we talked and joked about my invisible dog fence and my wife, the nurse, recommending garlic cloves to cure a cold. In the future we are going to use activities from Boris Shekhtman's الله يرحمه book, a pdf of which I emailed to Mona.

Today we practiced the assigned homework conversation, both formal and informal. Had fun reporting on a city in Egypt that I've never heard of. Added new vocabulary and will be using flashcard program to help learn them. I also learned some societal norms in Egypt. Another great session with Mona!

Thank you Mona. Every lesson has a 'revelation' for me or in other words, an important piece to a puzzle is found. I hope your other students understand the importance of persistence and consistency. See you soon!

Good lesson. Thanks Mona. We talked in both Fusha and Ammiyah about (1) daily activities (getting up, shaving, eating breakfast, etc) and (2) hobbies (music, playing and teaching piano, watching baseball, running 5k's). Next time i believe we are going to talk about my bio.

Another good lesson, and as always, Mona was right on time to start. Mainly we discussed the Syrian refugee problem, focusing on a news clip I watched yesterday about Syrians in the Calais camp in France, and the different approaches France and England are taking regarding admitting refugees and the problems those are engendering. We also branched off into the current problems the EU is facing, like Greek debt. AND importantly, we covered active and passive forms of تطور And also, like always, Mona sent me a document containing words and expressions we used during our class.

Thank you SOOOO MUCCCHHH Mona!!!! This was soo much fun!!! I wasn't as nervous. I do wish I could pull out the words from my head easier. However, Insha Allah, it will happen with practice! I will see you soon, InSha Allah.

Excellent lesson! Mona really helped me with the most challenging pronunciations and spellings of words with vowels. She is very encouraging and knowledgeable about the culture and variations in language (modern standard, dialects, etc.), and she makes me look forward to learning more!
